Yvonne Overbye Doyle

Yvonne Overby Doyle, age 88, of Fargo ND died peacefully December 7, 2018 at Eventide Senior Living Center under the care of Eventide and Ethos Hospice. Yvonne was born in Northfield, MN on March 29, 1930 to Thorleif and Alice Overby and was the eldest of 4 children.

Yvonne graduated from Northfield High School and continued her education at St. Olaf in Northfield, MN. She was a proud member of the St. Olaf choir and graduated in 1952. After 6 years of dating, Yvonne married Eugene (Gene) Kay Doyle on November 8th, 1952. Together they raised three children and lived in a number of towns in Minnesota, Sioux Falls and Huron, South Dakota and Minot, North Dakota and in 1976 settled in Fargo, North Dakota.

Yvonne’s professional life included a number of positions as an administrative assistant, Office Manager and bookkeeper. She was a significant “partner” in Doyle Seed & Service, a company Gene and Yvonne formed in their retirement years. Yvonne was a very hard-working and devoted employee for all of her employers.

In her free time, Yvonne loved to sew, knit, crochet, paint (decorative) and cook. In her later life she became quite an outstanding cook. Everyone enjoyed going to grandma’s house for her excellent dinners and just genuinely hanging out with the family. Gene and Yvonne were devoted to their children and grand-children.

Yvonne is survived by her two sisters, Irene (Orin) Solberg of Bloomington, MN and Lila (Gary) Prehall of Farmington, MN; two daughters - Pamela (Russ) Samuelson and Kristin (Wayne) Briggs; one son – Jeffrey (Launa Edvall) Doyle; 7 grandchildren – Cassie (Mat) Zwiebel, Anthony (Jaime) Samuelson, Samantha Briggs, Ward (Alyssa) Briggs, Connor Edvall, Tyler Edvall, Isabella Edvall; 2 great grandchildren – Noah Zwiebel and Madden Briggs.

Yvonne is preceded in death by her parents, brother Richard and husband of 60 years, Eugene K. Doyle.

A memorial service will be held at a future date to be determined.
