Dr. William R. Bond Jr. was born November 16, 1931, to Thelma (Riegel) and William R. Bond Sr. in Colfax, WA. Bill and his military family moved many times. The Bond family's military service brought them to Germany where Bill and Jane met while attending high school in Heidelberg, Germany. Their military families were stationed in different areas of post-war Germany and they were among many who attended the boarding school.
Following graduation from high school, Bill attended Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA; not coincidentally only 25 miles from Philadelphia where Jane attended nursing school. Following 2 years at Ursinus, Bill was accepted into the University of Pennsylvania School of Dentistry. Bill accepted an early commission in the US Army. Bill and Jane were married August 21, 1954, and welcomed 5 children: Robert A. (Aurel), David M. (Jill), Steven R., Janet C (Greg), and Richard H. (Patty).
While in the Army, Bill was accepted into an Oral Surgery residency. The Bond family moved many times, finally settling into the Fargo-Moorhead area following Bill's retirement from the Army. His next professional chapter began July, 1975 at Dakota Clinic. With 21 years in the army, Bill worked another 18+ years at Dakota.
Bill's passions included golf and age-bracketed masters swimming. Bill professed his faith in the saving power of Jesus and enjoyed spiritual conversations with increased frequency following Jane's death early this year. He expressed a sincere desire to be in heaven with his wife. Bill is survived by 4 children, 7 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, Jane, wife of 70 years, and one son, Steven R.
