William A. “Bill” Bakken, 86, passed away on March 23, 2010, at Mt. Olivet Careview Home in Minneapolis, MN. William was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Mary Jean; daughter, Kathryn Bakken-Erikson; grandson, Shane Pollock; siblings, Marian Christianson, Joseph Bakken; and parents. Bill was born on November 20, 1923, to Maurice and Mable Bakken in Crookston, MN. Bill was a longtime resident of Fargo, North Dakota, and served on the USS Mann in WWII. Survived by his daughters, Barbara Peck (Jim); Debra Bakken (John Arneman); granddaughter, Amanda Arneman-Bakken; grandson, Paul Erickson (Ann); great-granddaughter, Michaun Pollock; great-grandsons, Cole and Eli Erickson. Memorials preferred to local Food Shelf or the American Cancer Society. Funeral Service at 10 AM, Monday, March 29, 2010, at Hope Lutheran Church ~ North, Fargo. Burial following in Crookston MN at 2:00 PM.
