Obituary
Wendell Eugene Thorstad, Fargo, ND, 87, passed away at the VA Medical Center on Sunday, October, 13, 2013. He had been home with Hospice of the Red River Valley prior to this.
Wendell was born on September 26, 1926 to Melvin and Selma (Foss) Thorstad in Hatton, ND. He graduated from Clifford High School in 1944 and joined the Army. He was a veteran of WWII serving on Quam.
On September 26, 1951 he married Corrine Graveline. That same year he opened Spitzer and Thorstad City Service, Fargo, ND with Oscar Spitzer. In 1973 he continued on as Thorstad Service until retiring in 1991. Wendy then worked for Traffic Safety Services until 2001.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Corrine (Graveline), Fargo, ND; daughter, Linda (Gene) Schatz, Wentachee, WA; sons, Jeff (Karla) Thorstad, Blue Springs, MO; Doug (Julie) Thorstad and Jay Thorstad of Fargo, ND; 6 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; and sister, Avis Koenig, Red Wing, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lloyd, Milton and Ervin; and sister, Janice.
