Walter Willis

Walter H. Willis, 62, Audubon, MN, died Friday, July 3, 2009, at St. Mary's Innovis, Detroit Lakes, MN. Walter was born July 10, 1946, to Walter and Evelyn (Pederson) Willis in Bottineau, ND. Following high school in Souris, ND, he served with the US Marines in Vietnam. He married Dianne Charbonneau on November 6, 1970, in Hallock, MN. They made their home in Fargo, ND, where he continued his education earning his BS and Masters degrees. He worked for the Cass County Sheriff’s Department for 26 years. He had been happily retired at his lake home in Audubon, MN, for the last five years. He leaves his wife; sons; Shane of Grand Forks; ND; Tyson of Fargo, ND; three stepchildren, Keith Charbonneau of Dunseith, ND; Richard Charbonneau of West Fargo; ND; and Shannon Charbonneau of Fargo; ND; four brothers, Ron and Linda Willis of Topeka, KS; Jerry Willis of Topeka, KS; Doyle and LaRae Willis of Mitchell, SD; and Jim and Linda Willis of Souris; ND; and his beloved grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Steve. A family service was held at Hanson- Runsvold Funeral Home Chapel, Fargo, ND, on July 7, 2009.
