Virginia Schielke

Virginia E. Schielke, 80, died Friday, August 12, 2011 at Elim Nursing Home, Fargo, ND, after a long battle with diabetes and kidney failure. Virginia E. Schielke was born February 22, 1931, in Jamestown, ND to Alfred and Rose Gehlert. She was one of three children and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1949. In September 1949, she married Walter R. Schielke and they resided on a farm near Windsor, ND. In 1981 they moved to Bismarck, ND, where Virginia worked at Med Center One as a domestic engineer. Due to failing health they moved to Fargo, ND in 2010. Virginia was an avid reader and a very knowledgeable individual. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, history, traveling and her grandchildren. Virginia is survived by her husband Walter, of 61 years; daughters, Eileen Calkins (Dan) of Casselton, ND, Barbara Swank (Jim) of Fargo, ND, and Rebecca Hall of Minot, ND; and sons, Stephen of Rapid City, SD, Matthew (Cecilia) of San Antonio, TX, and James (Debbie) of Friendswood, TX; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; sister Faye Fercho of Jamestown, ND and was preceded in death by her sister Eileen Retzer.
