Vincen W. Hatlen, 92, passed away peacefully and in the loving company of family.

Vince was born in 1933 in Fargo to Ardis and Oliver Hatlen. He had fond childhood memories of time spent with his parents, friends, and extended family and helping on his grandparents' farm. Vince married Carol Frank in 1959 and the two adventured to Michigan, Louisiana, and Washington, D.C. in pursuit of Vince's architecture career. Along the way they had two daughters and settled back in Fargo where Vince began teaching at NDSU. For over 40 years he dedicated himself to his colleagues and students and cared deeply for them as budding architects and as people. Vince was a devoted grandfather, husband, and father. He was quiet, funny, unwaveringly supportive and lent his ingenuity to everything from design, to snow forts and skating rinks, to the worries of those he loved.

He is dearly missed.

Vince is survived by his granddaughter, his two daughters, and their husbands.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, September 28 from 6:30-8:30 PM at The Rourke Art Gallery, Moorhead, MN.
