Vicky Lynn
Smith
Feb 6, 1957 — Oct 10, 2026
Vicky Smith, 69, passed away on Saturday, October 10th, 2026, at her home in Fargo, ND, exactly 6 months to the day that her second-born daughter, Stacy, had passed and just a mere short 58 days since her beloved husband, Charles 'Chuck' Smith had passed.
Vicky Lynn (Miller) Smith was born on February 6th, 1957, at Kingman Regional Hospital, in Kingman, AZ, while her parents were traveling back to Streeter, ND, where home was. Vicky was the first-born daughter of Adam Thomas and Joan Eileen (Maier) Miller. At a very young age she and her family moved to various cities and states, only to leave the last residence of Butte, MT, when her mother had passed away in 1968, bringing Vicky back to Streeter, ND, to live with her grandparents, Gottlieb and Edna (Schnaidt) Maier. She attended Streeter elementary school and graduated from Streeter High School in 1975. After graduating, Vicky moved to Jamestown, ND, with a friend into the Schubert's apt building where she lived above Chuck and some of his friends. Vicky and her friend would knock 3 times on the radiator to get their attention below, and the boys would come upstairs to visit. The rest is history.
On February 20th, 1976, she married her beloved husband, Charles 'Chuck' Smith, at Concordia Lutheran Church, in Jamestown, ND. She pursued her career later in life as a head cook for many years in the Jamestown and Fargo Public Schools, as well as being the best homemaker/housewife to Chuck and their 3 children, Tesha (Smith) Roehrich, Stacy Smith and Taylor Smith. They made their home in Jamestown, ND, until 2006 when they moved to Fargo, ND, to stay close and heavily involved in their adult children and grandchildren's lives. Her love for her family was second to none.
Vicky had such a passion for cooking and baking. She opened her home to all whether it was a weeknight, holiday or a random drop-in; only to send one home with a full belly and a 'to-go' container, that's if there were any leftovers. She was the epitome of the best hostess when it came to entertaining. Vicky made sure you always felt welcomed and comfortable. She cherished so many things, from her siblings to friend luncheons, along with gardening both flower and vegetable gardens to canning, but most importantly, she cherished her family most. Vicky was a proud grandma who enjoyed watching her five grandchildren: Meghan (Roehrich) Tangen, Madison (Roehrich) Greely, McKenzie (Roehrich) Albert, Liam Smith and Harper Smith at their sporting events. She was always at every event, be it a gymnasium, field or diamond, showing her unwavering support while also being the loudest cheerleader on the sidelines. She was a die-hard MN Vikings fan, or maybe it was because she could make all the appetizers for her family to gather and enjoy together. Her hobbies included baking, shopping, getting pedicures, decorating, planting flowers, canning, and crafts.
Vicky is survived by her daughter, Tesha (Chad) Roehrich and son, Taylor (Alicia) Smith; granddaughters, Meghan (Mason) Tangen, Madison (Drew) Greely, McKenzie (Christian) Albert, Harper Smith and grandson, Liam Smith; great- grandchildren, Reign Tangen, Aria Greely and Naomi, Anais and Malachi Albert; sisters, Debra 'Debbie' (Mike) Zimmerman, and Kim (Jon) Hummel; brothers, Steve Miller, Thomas (Tammy) Miller, and Jeffrey (Holly) Miller; sister-in-law, Cindy (Dave) Hinz; brothers-in-law, Harrison 'Dode' (Connie) Smith and James (Karen) Smith; aunts, Beverly (Arnie) Schumaker and Paulette (Steve) Kirschenmann and an uncle, Allen (Marge) Maier, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Vicky was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck; her daughter, Stacy; her parents; her father and mother-in-law; two brothers-in-law; a nephew and two nieces.
