Obituary
Vernon Phillip Skarie was born October 31, 1947 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Phillip and Leora (Meyer) Skarie. He was raised in West Fargo, ND, where he graduated from High School.
He served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany. After his discharge, he moved to Fargo for a year and a half, before moving to the farm, near Horace, ND, where they have lived ever since.
Vernon married June Hollander on January 29, 1968 in Sisseton, SD.
He worked for SiouxLand Dressed Beef in West Fargo for a short time before going to work for Burlington Northern Railroad for 34 years.
Vernon’s passion was collecting and restoring old Fords.
He is survived by his wife, June Skarie, Horace, ND; one daughter, Michelle (Leo) Meza, West Fargo, ND; son, Mathew Skarie, Horace, ND; brother Lowell Skarie, Horace, ND; niece, Renae Skarie, Horace, ND and granddaughter, Stephanie Wolf, Fargo, ND.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
