Vernon Anderson, 93, of Bethany Towers II in Fargo, died on Sunday, June 1, 2008 in the Palliative Care Unit of MeritCare. Vernon was born on October 3, 1914 at Grafton, ND to Ole and Sophia (Foster) Anderson. He grew up and attended school in the Grafton area. He married Thelma Sander on May 3, 1942. In 1951, he realized a life-long dream of owning his own farm when they purchased a farm at Halstad, MN. They raised their family there and enjoyed many years of farming. Thelma passed away in 1979. Vernon retired and later moved to Fargo. Survivors include three children: Veronica (Alan) Dockter, Brooklyn Park, MN; Sharon (John) Knutson, Moorhead, MN; Steven (Joan) Anderson, Fargo, ND; eight grandchildren: Lisa, Lori, Todd, Brad, Mark, Jon, Sara and Leah; eighteen great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; two sisters; Lillian Hanson and Joy Gilleshammer of Grafton, ND. He was preceded in death by his wife Thelma and five brothers: Clarence, Orvil, Ray and Allan.
