Verna Wurzer

Verna Wurzer, 82, of West Fargo, ND, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, November 3, 2025.

Verna entered this world on April 1, 1943, in Lisbon, ND, the daughter of Engval and Agnes (Nelson) Green. She grew up on the family farm near Enderlin and attended school in both Lisbon and Enderlin, graduating from Enderlin High School.

After graduation, Verna moved to Fargo with her best friend, Alice, where she worked for a local drug store for several years.

On October 14, 1961, Verna married the love of her life, Mark Wurzer, at Holy Trinity Church in Fingal, ND. Together, they built a life on the family farm near Fingal, where they raised their four children. Verna took great pride in being a devoted mother and farm wife. In 1989, she and Mark moved into Fargo.

Once her children were grown, Verna began working at Fargo Elim as a Nurse Aide, where she cared deeply for the residents and made lifelong friends. She later worked for Bethany Homes, providing escort services for residents.

Verna was an incredibly creative and hardworking woman. She loved to crochet and participated in many craft shows, where she proudly displayed and sold her beautiful work. She also enjoyed gardening and was known by her family as a wonderful cook and baker. Some of her fondest memories were made during "girls' weekends" at the family's place on Leaf Lake, where she cherished time spent with family and friends.

Verna will be remembered for her humor, spunk, and sass. Even during difficult times, she could always make those around her laugh with her quick wit and joyful spirit.

She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Mark; her children, Todd Wurzer of Kathryn, ND; Cynthia Rapp of Fargo, ND; Clay Wurzer of West Fargo, ND; and Jeff (Julie) Wurzer of Fingal, ND; her grandchildren, Zane Wurzer, Mason Wurzer, Erica Rapp, Andrea Rapp, and Krista Wurzer; two beloved great-grandchildren, Jackson and Freya; her brother, Donny Green; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Pat Tuttle.

Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m. Sunday, November 9, 2025, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
