Verna Regelstad

Verna Regelstad, 87, of Moorhead, MN, died Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at Evergreens in Moorhead. Verna Lillian Checkley was born June 11, 1924, in Grafton, North Dakota, daughter of Roy and Eva (Johns) Checkley. She graduated from Forest River High School in 1942. Verna married Lewis Regelstad December 7, 1942. They moved to Grafton where she worked at the Walsh County Bank. They moved to Casselton, ND, in 1961, where they owned and operated Lou’s Super Valu. In 1967, they moved to Fargo and Verna worked as a bookkeeper for Daveau Music Company and in the accounting department of Moorhead Public Schools. She retired in 1984. Lewis died in 2002. Verna is survived by her son, Gary (Mary) Regelstad, Cormorant Lake, MN; and her daughter, Carol (Ken) Hopp, Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Andrew (Stephanie) Hopp, Melinda (Brandon) Miller and Karl Regelstad; great-grandchildren, Kaeley Hopp and Kady Regelstad. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lewis; and sister, Marie. Visitation: Thursday, June 30, 2011, from 7 – 9:00 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo. Inurnment: Crescent Cemetery, Grafton, ND, at a later date.
