Verlin John Heier passed away on Monday, December 9, 2013 at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, ND.
Verlin was born to John and Eva Heier in Gettysburg, SD on July 12, 1942. He grew up in Onaka, SD and graduated from Cresbard High School. Verlin graduated from Northern University in Aberdeen, SD in 1965.

Verlin and Sandra were married September 8, 1994 in Doland, SD. They lived in Doland 9 years, and moved to Redfield in 1991. Verlin worked at SDDC in Redfield for 14 years. August 2, 1995 Verlin started his career with Community Living Services where he was still working part time at the time of his death. Verlin worked 34 years in the Human Services field.

Verlin enjoyed playing sports as a young man, especially basketball and baseball. Verlin was an avid Twins fan and enjoyed a weekend at Target Field.

Verlin is survived by his wife, Sandra; his stepdaughter, Alyssa; step-granddaughter, Peyton Leigh of Garden City, SD; one sister, Sheila (Mark) Coad of Rapid City; one brother, Wayne Heier of Onaka, SD; one brother-in-law, Dan Hofer of Doland, SD; one niece, Anna Coad; and one step-nephew, Mason Coad.
