Thomas Simmons, 89, of Fargo, ND, (formerly of Kindred, ND) died Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at Bethany Homes, Fargo, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Thomas Gerhard Simmons was born November 12, 1919, in Fargo, North Dakota, to Melvin and Thora (Trana) Simmons. He was baptized and confirmed in the now long gone Christiania Lutheran Church. He attended grade school in Kindred, North Dakota, and Country School District #112 in Davenport Township. He farmed with his father on the family farm. He raised and sold registered and certified seed for 30 yeas. He was director of Cass County Agricultural Association for four years. On November 8, 1947, he married Doris May Weston in St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. To this union three sons were born, Kenneth Simmons of Pine Top, Arizona; Ron and Bruce Simmons of Kindred, North Dakota. He is also survived by a sister, Ruth Twedt of Wahpeton, North Dakota, and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Thora; and his wife, Doris.
