Steve Morrow, 50, of Maplewood, MN, passed away unexpectedly from natural causes on Saturday, December 20, 2025.
Steven Wade Morrow lived life with energy, loyalty, and a deep love for the people around him. He had a way of showing up for others that felt steady and genuine, whether as a son, brother, uncle, friend, or mentor. His sudden passing is difficult to comprehend, but the impact he made through his relationships, service, and everyday presence will continue to be felt by all who knew him.
Steve was born in 1975 in Lubbock, Texas and moved throughout his childhood as the family followed his father's military career. He was a 1993 graduate of Fargo North High School where he lettered in soccer, swimming and golf. He went on to attend the University of North Dakota, where he studied business, interned at Disney and was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Shortly after graduation, he proudly followed in his father's footsteps by joining the United States Air Force. He became an officer and was stationed in Shreveport, Louisiana, serving as an Electronic Warfare Officer (EWO) on the B-52, a role he carried out with dedication, intelligence, and deep pride in serving his country.
Following his military service, Steve made his home in Woodbury, Minnesota. He worked at the Minneapolis VA's Veterans Service Center helping disabled veterans receive the benefits they earned. His work reflected the same patience, kindness, and reliability that defined him in every part of his life.
Above all else, Steve was a family man whose heart belonged to the kids in his life, Paige, Wade, Lauren, Sully, and Griffin. He showed up for them in the ways that mattered most, rarely missing a game, meet, or moment, whether cheering from the stands or standing proudly on the sidelines. His encouragement, steady presence, and unwavering support made him a constant in their lives. In that same spirit of love, Steve was the beloved godfather to his nephew, Wade Morrow, and to Griffin Nalipinski, boys he treated not just as godsons, but as sons in every way that mattered. He was truly the kind of uncle everyone hopes for, dependable, fun, endlessly loving, and always there.
Steve found joy in the simple, meaningful moments: fishing, road trips, skiing, and long summer days at Lake Melissa surrounded by family and friends. He could often be found pulling kids tubing all summer long, smiling just as big as they were, soaking in the laughter and the sun. Those lake days, loud, carefree, and full of life, are where his joy shined brightest.
Steve is survived by his parents, Edward III and Patricia (Halverson) Morrow; his brother, Rick; sister-in-law, Andrea; and his cherished nieces and nephew, Paige, Wade, and Lauren Morrow. He is also survived by his closest friend, Justin Nalipinski; Justin's wife, Larissa; and their sons, Sully and Griffin, who loved Steve as a brother and uncle and whom Steve loved as family. He is further survived by a large and loving extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward Jr. and Dori Morrow, and Hans and LaVerne (Anderson) Halverson.
Steve was someone you could always count on. He showed up. He loved deeply. He lived fully. And while his absence is deeply felt, the memories he leaves behind will continue to guide and comfort those who loved him.
