Steven Dale Kopp, 68, a longtime resident of Fargo, ND, passed away at his home on December 22, 2022.

Steve was born on December 17, 1954 to Leonard and Lenora (Erdmann) Kopp in Moorhead, MN. He grew up and proudly resided in Fargo, ND, after graduating from Fargo North High School in 1973. Steve then attended college at North Dakota State College of Science, where he concentrated on auto body repair. Vehicles were a passion of his, and he could always be counted on to answer any car-related questions. He also closely followed NASCAR and could be found watching the races in his favorite chair every weekend.

Steve spent a 44-year career diligently watching over the City of Fargo’s water at the Water Filtration Plant. He retired on April 21, 2021, and immensely enjoyed his brief retirement.

Steve was united in marriage to Cathy (Olson) on April 30, 1977. They later divorced but remained great friends and met weekly at the family home to visit and check up on each other. Steve and Cathy raised four children, and he was extremely proud of their accomplishments. His six grandchildren and one great-grandchild were his greatest source of joy, and they will fondly remember Papa’s sense of humor and good-natured teasing.

Steve is survived by his sons, Justin (Jessie), Moorhead, MN, Jeremy, Fargo, ND, Jeffrey (Rachel), Sioux Falls, SD; step-daughter, Nicole Myhra, Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Ethan & Madison Myhra, Aliyah Braun, Mason Kopp, Eila & Egan Kopp; great-granddaughter, Sarai Mejia; sister, Charlotte (Steve) Henry; brothers, James (Mary) Kopp, Richard Kopp, & Roger (Betty) Kopp. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and close friends. His pups, Oscar and Opal, will also miss him dearly.

Steve was welcomed into Heaven by his parents, Leonard and Lenora, as well as his grandparents.

We would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, and kind messages. Dad always used times like these to reconnect with family and friends, share some laughs, and bury hatchets. We know he is with us in spirit and will continue to be a guiding light until we all meet again beyond this Earth.
