Steven Johnson, 77, of Fargo, ND, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2026.

Steve was born on April 23, 1949, in Valley City, ND, to Norman and Jeanette (Anderson) Johnson. He grew up and attended school in Valley City before graduating from high school in Mandan, ND.

Steve proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1968 to 1970.

In 1971, Steve met Kim Schelkoph, and the two were married on August 25, 1972, in Valley City.

Steve was a natural-born engineer with a gift for problem-solving and an ability to come up with creative ideas that led to great success. He spent the final 20 years of his career working as a plumber at the VA Hospital. Steve took great pride in his work and lived by his personal credo: "Do it right the first time." It was a philosophy that carried through every aspect of his life.

Above all, Steve was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was an honest man who worked hard to provide for his family and treated others with kindness and respect. Dependable and hardworking, Steve was the person people turned to when something needed fixing or building. He was always willing to lend a hand, and you could count on him to get the job done right.

He is survived by his wife, Kim; son, Chuck; grandson, Aiden; siblings, Norma Marsh, Stan (Pam) Johnson, Scott (Deb) Johnson, and Sue (Rod) Schauer; and many nieces and nephews.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, at 7:00 PM at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home in Fargo, ND. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
