Shirley M. Jones, 78, of Fargo, ND, passed away with her family at her side on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Sanford Health of Fargo.

Shirley Mae Motschenbacher was born September 22, 1935 in Barnesville, MN to Lester and Alice (Everett) Motschenbacher. She attended school and graduated from Barnesville High School. She studied radiographic technology in Moorhead, MN after which she began her career as an X-Ray Technician at St. Ansgar Hospital in Moorhead.

Shirley married Floyd Weisz on February 9, 1957. From this union four children were born, Wendy, Cindy, David, and Stacy. In 1968, the family entered into the business of racetrack promoting at the Glyndon Speedway, later adding the Brown County Raceway, Aberdeen, SD and Bismarck Capitol Raceway, Bismarck, ND and several others to their resume.

She resumed her career as an X-Ray technician in 1978, working until her retirement in 1986. On December 1, 1987, Shirley married John T. “Casey” Jones in Fargo. With this union, Shirley welcomed five more children into her family, John, Jeff, Mike, Nancy, and Judy.

She enjoyed retirement by spending time at the lake, boating, golfing, traveling, and tending to her garden.

Grateful for having shared Shirley’s life are children, Wendy (Doug) Guthmiller, Aberdeen, SD; Cindy Flatt, Fargo, ND; David (Sue) Weisz, Belgrade, MT; Stacy (Kelly) Palmer, Nixa, MO; Nancy Jones, Fargo, ND; Judy (Juan) Rangel, St. Paul, MN; John (Beth) Jones, Fargo, ND; Jeff (Ann) Jones, Horace, ND; grandchildren, Cassie, Nick, Luke, Matt, Kayla, Ali, Tanner, Bailey, Hannah, Juan, Mickey, Hilary, Fallon, Toby, Joe, Katie, Mackenzie, and Mike; siblings, Bernice Malstorm, Lenora (Chuck) Stenberg, Esther (Maurice) Talo, Dan (Bev) Motschenbacher; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, seven siblings, Casey Jones, and Mike Jones.
