Sherrill Weinkauf, 69, of Fargo, ND, died Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Sanford Health in Fargo.

Sherrill Leann Weinkauf was born November 6, 1945 in Breckenridge, MN to Darrell and Delores (Wehner) Weinkauf. She was born with a developmental disability, and attended several special education schools throughout her childhood. She lived on the family farm in Fairmount, ND until she was 10 years old, at which time they moved to Fargo, where she attended the Opportunity School and the Harbor School in Moorhead.

In 1959, Sherrill moved to Grafton where she lived and attended the Grafton State School. She was there until 1984, when she moved into a group home through Friendship, Inc. She shared an apartment for a couple years with two friends and their cat, Norton, and later moved into her own apartment. She worked various different jobs, but her favorite was packing and wrapping Christmas baskets one year.

Sherrill moved to Villa Maria Nursing Home in 2003, where she received wonderful care from the staff. Her love of cats was prominent in the decor of her room there. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and those who have cared for her for so many years.

Sherrill is survived by her father, Darrell, Fargo, ND; brother, Dennis Weinkauf, Fargo, ND; aunt, Elvonne (Pete) Erdahl; cousins, Lemoyne (Sharen) Propp, Joan (Michael) Pardy, Carol (Tim) Jahner.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Delores.
