Ronald (Ron) A. Mickels, age 91, of Fargo, ND, passed away peacefully at Sanford Palliative Care, surrounded by family on 1/16/2013.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Eleanor (Ellie). He leaves behind his children, Joy (Joel McDaniel), Ellen, Mark and Mary (Hissam Soufi), 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Ron, a WWII veteran, served in the US Army Air Corps (European Theatre) where he flew 35 missions as a B-24 pilot.

After the war, he married Ellie and they farmed in the McVille area for many years. After retirement they moved to Wenatchee, Washington and returned to Fargo in 2002.

Ron was a lifelong member of the American Legion. One of the highlights of recent years was the Honor Flight trip to Washington, DC with fellow veterans.
