Ronald Paul Cody

February 11, 1948 — July 9, 2016

Ronald Paul Cody, 68, of Fargo, ND passed away Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the Fargo VA Hospital under Hospice care.

Ron was born at home to Paul and Alice(Briss) Cody on February 11, 1948. He grew up in rural Carrington, ND where he graduated from high school in 1966. After graduation, he entered the Army and was stationed at White Sands missile range, NM working on weather balloons.

On March 23, 1974, he married Jane Kallberg in Carrington, ND. They and their 3 children transferred to Williston ND with JC Penney. He later worked for Schlumberger in Williston, ND and Dickinson, ND. When he moved to Fargo, Ron went to work for Unclaimed Freight Furniture as a warehouse manager until he was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. He continued to work part time until his passing.

Family was first and foremost. Through the years, his favorite times were spent with the kids and their families. He loved attending NDSU Bison football games with his children and grandchildren. He had reserved seats for all of them to cheer on the Bison, even going directly from chemo treatments to the games.

His brothers and sister and their families held a very special place in his heart. Whenever they got together through the years, you can bet a game of pinochle would ensue. Any chance he had to spend time with them was special to him.

No matter where he worked, his coworkers become his friends and he cherished those friendships.

He was a warm, gentle and generous man with a wonderful sense of humor and a smile to match. Go Bison!

Ron is survived by his sons Todd (Bobbi Jo), Rodney (Liz) and daughter Vicki (Kelly) Osland; 7 grandchildren Kaleigh Indvik, Allyson Indvik, Randa Cody, Rylie Cody, Ryker Cody, Jurnee Osland and Parker Osland.

Brothers Ken Cody (Henderson, NV), Larry (Charlene) Cody(West Fargo), Bill Cody (West Fargo), Dale(Penny) Cody(Brooklyn Center, MN) and sister Marlene Young (Devils Lake, ND).

He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Alice Cody, grandson Reece Cody, parents in law, Wes and Marie Kallberg, brother in law, Raymond Young, sister in laws, Judy Kallberg Kelly, Joan Kallberg Straley and Joan Wigen.

A special thank you to the Fargo VA and the wonderful care that Ron received while hospitalized during the years, especially during his final stay. Your genuine care and concerns for not only Ron but his family were beyond measure.
