Robert (“Bob) Johnson: March 25, 1927 - May 21, 2025

Leatrice Johnson, 97, Fargo, N.D went to be with the Heavenly Father on March 17, 2025. Robert (“Bob”) Johnson, 98, was reunited with his loving wife Leatrice on May 21, 2025.

Both were born in Halstad, MN. Bob was born to Olga and John Johnson, and Leatrice was born to Anna and Orlando Serum.

After high school, Leatrice attended the University of North Dakota (Grand Forks) and Minnesota School of Business (Minneapolis). She worked for Gustafson & Sons Company (Moorhead) as a secretary. Bob served in the U.S. Navy. He attended Concordia College (Moorhead). In 1948 they were married and would share their unique and special love story for the next 77 years in Fargo.

They shared a love of music. They were members of a dance band performing in Minnesota and North Dakota areas at a variety of dance jobs…Leatrice on the piano and Bob on the trumpet. Leatrice taught piano lessons for many years at their home in Fargo. Bob enjoyed playing trumpet in various area and military bands throughout his life.

Bob worked for the Straus Clothing Company part time during his college years. He remained with Straus until his retirement on July 28, 1991 as the Manager of the downtown Fargo store.

They were charter members of Hope Lutheran Church (Fargo).

They enjoyed retreating to their northern Minnesota lake home on the weekends for many years where they shared wonderful times with cherished lifelong friends.

Bob and Leatrice are survived by their children: Roberta (Chanhassen, MN) and Jeffrey (Tina) (Fargo, ND), and step-grandson Cole Larsen (Roanoke, VA). Other survivors include nieces, nephews and Leatrice’s brother Ronald Serum.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and brother John. Leatrice was preceded in death by her parents, sister Leone Jamison and brother Dale Serum.

A private memorial service will be held at a future date. Interment will be at the Fargo National Cemetery, Harwood, N.D.
