Robert "Bob" John Flanders, Fargo, ND passed away December 14, 2025 under the care of Sanford Hospice. He was born May 7, 1943 in Blackduck, MN to Harriet and Robert Flanders Sr.
Bob graduated from Fargo Central High School, class of 1961. He married Gloria Marie Rivenes on July 24, 1964, and a few months later, the military deployed him to Korea, where he served with the Radio Relay Unit on the border to North Korea. While in Korea, he tried out and made the Pistol Team as one of the top competition shooters for the US Army, and was awarded for his expert marksmanship.
In the mid-1970s, he started building pole barns/steel buildings with a couple of friends and eventually went on his own, putting up buildings around the area for local farmers. He later worked as a foreman for various construction companies doing building and remodeling.
He played billiards for many years, shooting in pool leagues and in many pool tournaments, including on a team that won the ND State Championship in the 1980s.
Bob and his wife, Gloria, enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and cooking together.
He is survived by his son, Dean; daughter, Angela; grandsons, Justin and Chance; sisters-in-law, Marlys Schmidt and Clarice Haats.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria; parents, Harriet and Robert Flanders Sr.; sister, Ruth Alstad; in-laws, Bernice and Martin Rivenes; brothers-in-law, Armond Alstad, Ted Haats, Clayton Rivenes, and Don Schmidt; sister-in-law, Sandy Rivenes; nephew, Brent Haats; and niece, Julie Rohde.
A service will be held in the spring of 2026.
