Robert Earl Bruun was born on May 13, 1952 in Two Harbors, MN to Marlys and Earl Bruun. The family moved to Staples, MN in 1959 where Robert attended schools in the area. He joined the US Navy in March 1970 and was discharged in October 1990. The US Navy was Bob’s career, from which he took great pride and received numerous honors and medals before retiring from the Navy. He attended college in Thief River Falls, MN where he received an Associates in Arts degree in accounting. He worked various jobs until his retirement at which time he moved to Felton and became a volunteer firefighter for the Felton Fire Department. Bob married Karen Cihacek on June 28, 2004 in Detroit Lakes, MN and they made their home in Moorhead. Bob loved his children and his granddaughter, Abby, fishing, his four shih-tzus, camping in his RV and tinkering on many projects. Robert is survived by his wife, Karen, Moorhead, MN; son, Adam Bruun, Brainerd, MN; daughter, Angela Bruun, Las Vegas, NV; stepchildren, David and Brian Cihacek, and Laura (Nathan) Hausmann; granddaughter, Abby; mother and father, Frank Jares and Marlys Jares; siblings, Beverly (Freddie) Williams; Frank (Kim) Jares; Elizabeth (Mark) Capistrant; Cheryl (Brent) Hahn; Keith (Jennifer) Jares, and numerous nieces, nephew and extended family. Robert Bruun died Thursday, April 3, 2008 in Moorhead, Minnesota at the age of 55. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert John Bruun and his grandparents.
