Ricky Dean
Alm
Mar 12, 1959 — Sep 15, 2026
Ricky Alm, 67, Wahpeton, ND died Tuesday, September 15, 2026 in Sanford Broadway Medical Center.
Ricky (Rick) Alm March 12, 1959 – September 15, 2026 & Forever in Our Hearts
Ricky (Rick) Alm was born on March 12, 1959, to Melvin and Phyllis Alm and grew up on the family farm in Walcott, North Dakota, alongside his siblings, Suzanne Overby and John Alm. He passed away surrounded by his family on September 15, 2026, and is now reunited with his parents and sister, Suzanne. Rick is survived by his wife and best friend, Laurie (Rakke) Alm; his daughters, Jamie (Kyle) Beckius and Heather (Camron) Villers; and his three grandsons, Logan Beckius (13), Lucas Beckius (9), and Vincent Villers (8), who were quite simply his favorite people on the planet. Above all else, Rick loved his family. He was steady, funny, protective, and endlessly proud of those he loved. He always showed up, made people laugh, and had a way of turning ordinary moments into memories that will be cherished for years to come.
Rick had a natural gift for making people laugh and spent his retirement enjoying the things he loved most: cars, fishing, and Laurie — roughly in that order. He treasured time at their lake place in Devils Lake, ND where he loved to fish whenever he could. He also had a deep appreciation for classic cars, spending time restoring them and attending weekend car shows. Rick and Laurie enjoyed traveling to their Arizona home, always taking the scenic route and making plenty of stops in small towns along the way. Rick believed the journey was just as important as the destination.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 26, from 2:00–5:00 p.m. at the Community Center in Christine, ND. The gathering will be an open house and casual in style, just the way Rick would have wanted it. Guests are encouraged to come ready to share stories, laughs, and memories — and to wear blue, his favorite color. If you happen to own a classic car, Rick would absolutely love to see it roll in, so please bring it.
On behalf of Rick’s family, thank you to everyone who filled his life with love, laughter, friendship, and wonderful memories. His presence will be deeply missed, but the laughter, stories, and memories he created will live on in all who knew and loved him.
