Raymond Odegard, 92, of Fargo, ND died Monday, August 14, 2017 in Sanford Health, Fargo.
Raymond was born Oct. 16, 1924 at Wyndmere, ND to parents, Evan and Olga (Sletmoe) Odegard. In 1937 they moved to Battle Lake, MN. They farmed until the fall of 1944 when they moved into Battle Lake.
Raymond entered the service in Oct. 1944 serving in the U.S. Army. He served in the South Pacific Theatre. He was stationed in the Philippine Islands, of Mindano, Leyte and Luzon. He was discharged from service in 1946. Returning to Battle Lake, he worked on farms and later in construction. On July 13, 1955, he married Claire Boettger of Fergus Falls, MN. They lived in Fargo, ND. Raymond worked for Firestone Tire and Rubber Co from April 1, 1956, retiring from there in July 1982. He was then self employed and totally retired in 1992. Raymond was a member of the WDAY Honor Flight in 2015.
He is survived by his wife, Claire; 3 sons, Merle (Nancy) and Steven (Jacqueline) of Fargo, ND; Jerome (June), Montgomery Village, MD; 5 grandchildren, Ashley, Andrew, Emily, Kelsey, and Joshua, all in Fargo; and one great-grandchild, Isla.
