Prince Baier, 100, of Fargo, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2016, at Elim Rehabilitation and Care Center.
Prince (Brentz) Fredrick Ludwig Baier was born May 29, 1915, in Oliver County, ND, the son of Christ L. and Johanna (Auwinger) Baier. Prince was raised and worked on the family farm until moving to Fargo at the age of 22. There he worked as a farm hand and at Armor Meat Packing Company in West Fargo. He met his wife, Carrie Morken, and was married on October 11, 1942. Prince served in the army during WWII in the 2nd Armored Division ( Hell on Wheels), 3rd Army, landing at Normandy D Day plus 1, and across Europe to Berlin. After returning from the war he worked at Fargo Electric Motor Company until purchasing Walt's Electric and opening his own business, Prince Electric Motors. Prince worked six days a week building his business and providing for his wife and 3 children. His wife, Carrie, was his bookkeeper. Prince worked well into his 80's, but made time for playing pool at Tailgators and building snow forts.
He is survived by his son Wayne Baier, Arvada, CO; daughter Debra (Jon) Anderson, Fargo; daughter- in- law Pam Baier, Columbia Falls, MT; four grandchildren, Bradley (Jamie) Anderson, Fargo; Rebecca (Dustin) Schlichting, Alexandria, MN; Kelly (Eric) Hansen, Aurora, CO; Kimberly ( Lance) Christianson, Rollins, MT; eight great-grandchildren, Payton and Trinity Anderson; Lila and Ava Schlichting,; Megan and Caitlin Hansen; Jack and Chloe Christianson; his brother Christian Baier, Glendive, MT; sister Elsie Schrempf, Beuhla, ND; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carrie; son Darryl; sister Hulda Unterseher; and brother Julius Baier.
