Philip Hagen, 91, of Fargo, ND, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at Fargo Elim under the care of Ethos Hospice surrounded by family.
Philip was born to Arnold and Helen Hagen on January 12, 1935 in Fargo, ND. He graduated from Pelican Rapids High School. Philip served in the active duty Navy stationed at Treasure Island San Francisco, CA.
Philip married high school sweetheart and love of his lfe, Lillian Sanstead on June 11, 1955. When he was done with his service, he attended Concordia College for pre-dental requirements. Philip attended dental school at the University of Minnesota. Philip opened his first dental practice in Fargo, ND at Northport Shopping Center. He practiced in Fargo from 1962 - 1984. While living in Fargo, he was active at Messiah Lutheran Church by singing in the choir, was on church council, and on the board for TV ministry. Philip was very active in the Lions group and then became the 1st president of the Edgewood Lions Group and helped with bowling for the blind. Philip was on the advisory board for the dental assistant program at NDSSS. Philip and Lillian lived in Fargo until 1984 when they moved to Pelican Rapids, MN.
Philip opened a dental practive in 1984 in Pelican Rapids, MN where he worked until his retirement in 2000. Philip was very active in Faith Lutheran Church, singing in the choir, involved in numerous building projects, and church council. Philip was active in Lions. Philip has been a member of the knifemakers guild since 1976. Philip's knives have been known worldwide as he used his creativity and love of the knife making craft to individualize each and every knife that he created. He continued creating knives for many years following his retirement.
Philip was married to the love of his life of 70 years. Philip is survived by his wife, Lillian; children, Theresa (Chuck) Wickenheiser, Karen (Todd) Lindblom; grandchildren, Trevor (Adrienne) Wickenheiser, Leah (Josh) Green, Nicholas (Danielle) Lindblom, Meghan Lindblom; great-grandchildren, Adelaide and Mcalister Wickenheiser, Keeley, Nora, and Henrik Green, Wyatt and Bodie Lindblom, and Lily Lindblom; half-sister, Judy Vorachek; half-brothers, David (Stephanie) Hagen and Paul (Lee) Hagen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Helen Hagen.
Memorial Service: 11:00am, Saturday, April 25, 2026 at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND with a visitation one hour prior. The service will be livestreamed on the funeral home website.
