Norvald J. Skonseng, 80 of Fargo, died Sunday, August 1, 2010, in Fargo under the care of his family and Hospice of the Red River Valley. Norvald John Skonseng was born October 25, 1929, at Fort Ranson, North Dakota, son of Axel and Agnes (Olson) Skonseng. He graduated from Fort Ransom High School. Norvald joined the Army National Guard June 1, 1950. Norvald married Mary Louise Joegenson April 25, 1951, at Camp Rucker, Alabama. They moved to Fargo in 1952. Norvald worked for Manchester Biscuit in Fargo from 1952-1958, Culligan Soft Water in Fargo, from 1959 – 1969 and Fargo Public Schools (Ben Franklin and Longfellow) for 24 years, from 1969 until his retirement in 1994. Norvald loved to travel, play golf, fish, dance and listen to country music. He is survived by his son, Myron (Joellen) Skonseng, Fargo, ND; two daughters, Norine (Kenneth) Erickson, Lisbon, ND and Cindy (Richard) Moerke, Hardwick, MN; sister, Linda (Hans) Bjone, Valley City, ND; ten grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary in 2003; parents and two brothers. Memorial Service: Friday, August 6, 2010, 2:00 PM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: One hour prior to services at the church.
