Norma Lois Pherson

Norma Lois Pherson, 90, of Fargo, ND, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2020, at Eventide on Eighth in Moorhead, MN, surrounded by loved ones. Norma was born to Herbert and Laura (Clark) Kay on June 27, 1929, in Bottineau, ND. Norma grew up in Russell, ND, until her family moved to Fargo when she was 13-years-old. She completed high school through correspondence and briefly moved to Minneapolis to explore her independence and work in catalog modeling. Norma returned to Fargo where she met the love of her life, Clinton “Cy” Pherson, and they were married on May 17, 1949.
Norma made a beautiful home for her family in Fargo, caring for her husband and their four children. Norma was a talented seamstress, avid reader, and expert in Midwestern modesty. She always had a knack for details and a willingness to help others. Norma and Cy were founding members of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fargo in 1950, and Norma was active in her faith and church community throughout life.
Norma is survived by her four children: Lauralee Marek, Moorhead, MN; Lavonne Pherson, Springfield, VA; Clint (Maggie) Pehrson Jr., Seattle, WA; and Joan Pherson, Fargo, ND; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren: Michelle (Brian) Pearson, Alton; Melissa (Noel) Bartels, Elijah, Peter, and Linus; Sabrina Pherson; Joshua Pehrson; and Gabriel Pehrson.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother Richard Kay, and her sisters- and brothers-in-law.
Norma’s family would like to extend a warm thank you to the staff at Eventide and Hospice of the Red River Valley for their compassionate care.
Visitation will be Friday, January 24 from 12:00-1:00 p.m. followed by funeral services at 1:00 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to Hospice of the Red River Valley.✝
