Norma Steinmeyer Finnie

Norma Finnie, 91, died on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 in Palliative Care at Sanford Health.

Norma Jean Steinmeyer was born in Carlinville, Illinois on November 10, 1924 to John and Ruth (Eversull) Steinmeyer. She graduated from East St. Louis High School and attended North Dakota Agricultural College (NDSU) graduating with honors in 1947. Norma Jean was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority, serving as president and she remained active for many years as an advisor. Following graduation, she worked for Proctor and Gamble as a market analyst. In 1952, Norma married John Finnie, whom she had met while she was in college. They lived in Fargo and raised their two daughters, Barbara (Steve) Maag and Jane (Rick) Roggensack.

Norma was active in the St. Luke’s Auxiliary, a 70 year member of Chapter Y PEO, a member of Woman’s Club of Fargo and enjoyed many games of bridge. She enjoyed needlework, the F-M Symphony, was an avid reader and enjoyed staying up on current events.

Norma was preceded in death by her loving grandparents who helped raise her, her parents, a brother Elwood and John, her devoted husband of 63 years. She is survived by her daughters; granddaughters, Adriane (fiancé Logan Carney) Maag and Caitlin (Tyler)Dahl; and three great- grandchildren, Olivia Carney, and Ella and Carter Dahl.
