Nicole Nadeanne Keisacker, 70, passed away in the comfort of her home on May 11, 2016 after she met the challenges of ovarian cancer with courage, strength, and grace.
Nicole was born December 2, 1945 the daughter of Joseph and Edna (Larson) Hoggarth in Jamestown, ND. She grew up in Kensal, ND where she graduated high school in 1963. She continued her education at the St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Fargo, graduating in 1967. Later, she completed her Bachelors of Science in Nursing at Moorhead State University. Nicole began her nursing career at St. Luke’s Hospital later MeritCare and then Sanford Health; retiring after 43 years of dedicated service. Nicole also served as a Faith Community Nurse, establishing the Parish Nurse Ministry at Calvary United Methodist Church. She facilitated the GriefShare group for a number of years and extended her service as a member of Churches United for the Homeless.
She enjoyed the time she spent mentoring children while being involved with the Roosevelt Elementary Mentorship Program.
Nicole married Don Partlow in 1968; together they had one daughter- Leslie. Later in life she was united in marriage to Allan Keisacker, they had one daughter- Jessica. Nicole enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was looking forward to welcoming her fourteenth grandchild in June. Whether it was watching sports events, plays or music recitals, she was always invested. She became an armchair expert in gymnastics, swimming, wrestling and piano. She was always a goofy, fun, and loving Grandma. As a mother she was a steadfast source of comfort, security, and “spot-on” advice, that should have always been followed – “It must have been the lemons”!
Nicole’s faith was her foundation. She led by example, instilling a strong faith in her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed attending bible studies, Dorcas Circle, quilting, the church garden, and after retirement, supporting the church office.
Spending time at Little Toad Lake always held a special place in her heart, where many lifelong friendships were made. Good coffee, good food, fishing, campfires, pool tournaments and campground Christmas parties created some of her most treasured memories.
Nicole was able to share the last twelve years forming a very special relationship with Terry Sebestl. Because of their shared love of flowers, they particularly enjoyed visiting Bergeson’s Nursery. Nicole looked forward to the beautiful roses Terry would bring her from his garden. They traveled extensively, and also enjoyed antiquing and going to toy and coin shows together.
Thank you to all of our mom’s close lifelong friends, church family, former co-workers, and family for showing their love, support, and true friendship through her life and especially to us throughout these last few years. A special thank you to Hospice of the Red River Valley, Dr. Tricia Langlois, Melissa Jons, RN, and Karen Flemming, RN-Parish Nurse.
