Neil James Wiltse passed away at his home in Fargo on April 22, 2024, at the age of 77.

A visitation will be held at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home in Fargo on Thursday, May 2 from 5-7pm, with a prayer service at 7pm. A celebration of Neil's life will be held at Richland Lutheran Church, rural Walcott, ND, on Friday, May 3 at 11am. The prayer service and celebration of life will be livestreamed on the funeral home website. Burial will follow at Richland Cemetery.

Neil was born on February 18, 1947, to Neil Sr. and Norma (Krogen) Wiltse. He grew up on the Borgen Farm (grandparents) in rural Walcott where his parents had moved in 1950. Neil graduated from North Central High School, Colfax, ND, in 1965. After high school, Neil attended State School of Science in Wahpeton from 1965-66. In 1967, he transferred to NDSU in Fargo.

Neil and Diane Nelson were married in 1967. Son Jason was born in 1971 and daughter Denise was born in 1972.

Neil and Marlene Koenig were married in 1983 and celebrated their 40th Anniversary last year. Neil was a member of Walcott American Legion in Walcott for 56 years.

Neil started his career in Ready Mix in 1974. In 2015, he retired as a dispatcher for Aggregate Industries.

In earlier years, he played shortstop in Fargo Softball Leagues, most years during the summer. He enjoyed weekends at their lake home in Detroit Lakes and visiting their many friends. Neil and Marlene's favorite winter get away was Aruba where they acquired more good friends. He developed a fondness for cooking. He loved to play golf, which he never had time before.

Neil was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Vicki Koenig-Wenzel (Dick).
Neil is survived by his wife Marlene, son, Jason (Andrea Kottas) and daughter Denise McWherter; grandchildren, Keaton Wiltse, Fiona Wiltse, Carson Biermanski, Benjamin McWherter; sister, Karen (Charles) Moe, brother, Michael; brother and sister-in-law Ed and Putsie (Koenig) Roesler, Neil's favorite in-laws and friends.
