Muriel Dacar, 84, of Fargo, ND, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at St. Catherine North in Fargo under the care of CHI Hospice.

Muriel Susanne Gjestvang was born on February 23, 1942, to Olger and Violet (Berg) Gjestvang in McVille, ND. She grew up and attended school in Georgetown, MN, and Moorhead, MN, graduating from Moorhead High School in 1959.

Muriel married Edward B. Hohnadel in Georgetown, and they made their home in Moorhead.

Muriel worked in bookkeeping for several businesses throughout the Georgetown, Fargo, and Moorhead area. She was known for her exceptionally neat penmanship. Muriel was remembered as a wonderful cook, something she truly enjoyed, and an accomplished piano player. Keeping in touch with family, spending time online, watching television and cooking shows, and preparing meals were among the things that brought her joy.

Muriel married Robert "Bob" Dacar on September 21, 1985, in Bowman, ND. They lived in Scranton, ND, until Bob's death in 2004. She later moved to Elgin, where she worked in the insurance department at the local hospital.

Muriel will be remembered for being both sweet and stubborn, and for being a soft-spoken, easy person to talk to.

Muriel was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; daughter, Stacy Lynn Hohnadel; and her parents.

Muriel is survived by her children, Greg (Carla Bushee) Hohnadel and Kevin (Sue) Hohnadel; siblings, Sheryl (Jim) Olson and Darcy (Tina) Gjestvang; grandchildren, Trista, Markie, Davan, Dayden, Brytton, Chelena, Shantelle, Adrienne, four step-grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home in Fargo, with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Scranton, ND.
