Michelann Tangen, 68, of Fargo, ND, died Saturday, November 21, 2015 at her home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Michelann Flynn was born March 13, 1947 in Great Falls, MT. Her parents, Roger and Agnes (McHugh) Flynn, raised her and her brother, John, in Great Falls, MT and Minnewaukan, ND before settling in Fargo, ND. She graduated from Shanley High School in 1965, after which she attended the College of Saint Teresa in Winona, MN.
She married Melvin Tangen in 1968 and they lived in Hawley, MN and Wahpeton, ND. Together they had three children. They divorced in 1980 and Michelann moved to Fargo with the children. She worked in administration at several different Lutheran churches, most recently at Hope Lutheran Church until her retirement in 2012.
Michelann’s grandchildren brought her great joy in her life, as did her cat, Sophie. She had a strong faith which gave her great comfort knowing her final destination would be Heaven. She was grateful for the compassionate nurses and staff that took care of her at the Essentia Cancer Center and while under the care of Hospice.
Michelann is survived by her three children, Jill (Ken) Deitz, Argusville, ND; Matthew (Kris) Tangen, Lincoln, NE; Paul (Meg) Tangen, Lake Park, MN; her father, Roger Flynn; brother, John Flynn; and grandchildren, Alex, Joelle, Andrew, and Miles.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Agnes.
In lieu of flowers, Michelann requested that memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley.
