Michael Paul Jones, 56, of Fargo, ND, died peacefully at Sanford Palliative Care in Fargo, surrounded by his family.

Mike was born August 26, 1956 to John T. “Casey” and Katharine (Bristol) Jones in Fargo, ND. He attended Fargo South High School, and graduated from Shanley High School. He attended college at both Regis College and UND, and was an avid Fighting Sioux Hockey fan.

Mike went to chef school at Minnesota Technical College in Detroit Lakes, and worked as a chef at many Fargo area restaurants. He later worked at John T. Jones Construction with his brothers until retiring due to health issues. Mike then focused on his hobbies, which were hunting, fishing, photography, dog-training, cooking, writing books, walking and hanging out with his buddies.

Mike was able to pursue his dream of following the duck migration from Manitoba to Louisiana. He was proud to document his adventures in his book “Trip of A Lifetime” which was published two years ago. On the trip, Mike shot many ducks and pheasants and was able to lead many guided hunts with his beloved dog, Arnie. Mike struggled with health issues throughout his life, but inspired many with humor and a positive attitude.

Mike is survived by his siblings, Nancy Jones, Fargo, ND; Judy (Juan) Rangel, West Saint Paul, MN; John B. (Beth) Jones, Fargo, ND; Jeff (Ann) Jones, Horace, ND; stepmother, Shirley Jones, Fargo, ND; nieces and nephews, Juan and Mickey Rangel; Hilary (Brian) Jones-Chapman; Fallon and Toby Jones; Joe, Katie, Mackenzie, and Mike Jones; and his hunting dog, Gabby.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Jo Jones; and hunting dog, Arnie.
