Mary Ann Brady, 96, of Fargo, ND passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026 at HIA Heather's House.
Mary was born April 28, 1929 to Alexander and Magdalen Dettling in Devils Lake, ND. As a young woman she moved to Carrington, ND and worked as a waitress in the local cafe. There, she served Wallace Jerome Brady a cup of coffee for the first time; they later married on November 5, 1953 in Devils Lake, ND. Wallace and Mary moved to Hibbing, MN where they welcomed daughter, Patricia, and son, Jerome. The family then relocated to Fargo, ND where they were completed with the birth of twin daughters, Kathleen and Karen.
While in Fargo, Mary worked as a food demonstrator at Red Owl. At the age of 50, she transitioned to Washington Elementary and remained their dedicated janitor for 31 years, finally retiring at the age of 81. She was an avid homemaker who was strong in her faith. She loved to cross stitch, travel, and create delicious meals in the kitchen; she was well-known for her pies and potato salad.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace; grandsons, Tyler and Greg; grandson-in-law, Thomas Jr.; her parents, four brothers and two sisters.
Surviving Mary are her son, Jerome (Lori) Brady of Fargo, ND; three daughters, Patricia (D) Du Shane of West Fargo, ND, Kathleen (David) Moos and Karen Krueger, both of Fargo, ND; eight grandchildren, Amy, Kelly (Aaron), Robert (Tori), Michael (Ashton), Jennifer (John), Jonathon (Shelby), Katy, and Joseph; and twelve great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Amanda, Payton, Jonathan, Thomas III, Kaden, Jaxon, Kylie, Liam, Archie, Louie, and Josie.
The family wishes to convey our deepest gratitude to the entire HIA Heather's House staff for their devoted and exceptional care, to Shirley Kondelis for her spiritual support of providing communion every Sunday, and to the Hanson-Runsvold staff for their compassion and professionalism towards honoring our dearest mother and grandmother.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to HIA Heather's House in honor of Mary Brady.
