Marlys Leeby

Marlys R. Leeby, 77, of Fargo, ND, died Monday, August 18, 2008 at MeritCare Palliative Care Unit, Fargo, ND. Marlys Ramona Stevens was born April 9, 1931 in Gary, MN to Carl and Jenny Stevens. She grew up on a farm near Gary, MN and graduated from high school there. She worked at Bell Telephone in Fargo after high school. She married Victor H. Leeby Jr. on June 16, 1951 in Fargo, ND. Marlys raised her family in Fargo and was active in her church and many community activities including Fine Arts Club, El Zagal Shrine and Sertoma Club. She was an avid bowler, bridge and pinochle player. Marlys enjoyed gardening, baking and spending time at the lake with her family and grandchildren. Marlys is survived by her husband; two sons, Gary (Denise) and Neil (Kris) Leeby; daughter, Mona Leeby, all of Fargo, ND; brother, Dean (Marsha) Stevens, Wyoming, MN; grandchildren, Luke Leeby, Fargo, ND; and Raime (Chris) Muhle, Denver, CO; great-granddaughter, London Muhle and many others that she considered her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Stevie and Carol; and brother, Bud. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Roger Maris Cancer Center and Plymouth Congregational Church.
