Mark Lembke was born on October 30, 1955, in Cavalier, ND to Frederick and Mildred (Porter) Lembke and died on September 23, 2025.
Mark grew up on a farm in rural Pembina County and attended Neche High School. He graduated from the University of North Dakota with a B.S. degree in accounting. He met Linda Flore in college. They married in 1976. After earning his CPA, they lived in Denver for 10 years where he started working in the sugar industry. His children, Rhianna and Jeremy were born during that time. In 1987, they returned to North Dakota when Mark began his 30-year career at American Crystal Sugar Company. He was a management team member of the finance department at the Hillsboro, ND factory and the company's Corporate Headquarters in Moorhead, MN. Outside of work, Mark was an avid traveler who visited all 50 states. He liked hiking 14,000-foot elevation peaks, snow skiing, fishing, sporting events, and gardening. He also enjoyed relaxing at their Minnesota lake cabin, listening to classic rock music, and was a passionate Fighting Sioux hockey fan. Even after he and Linda began spending winters in Arizona, he was sure to watch all the games. Throughout much of his adult life, Mark was hampered by myotonic muscular dystrophy. He found ways to stay mobile, remain positive, and maintain relationships with friends and family. He adored his two granddaughters incredibly and delighted in following their activities, sharing stories and playing games with them.
Mark is survived by his wife of 49 years, Linda; his daughter Rhianna (Dane) Sellstedt; his son Jeremy (Nicole) Lembke and grandchildren Ava and Zoe; his parents Frederick and Mildred Lembke; sister Lori (Vince) Piercy; brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association at www.mda.org.
