Marcella Amundson, 96, of Fargo, ND, died Thursday, August 11, 2011, at Sheyenne Crossing, West Fargo, ND. Marcella Ziner, daughter of Eugene and Theolina (Williams) Ziner, was born April 9, 1915, near Taylor, North Dakota, on the family farm. She attended schools in Taylor until she was 16 and then went to school in Vivian, South Dakota. After high school, she moved to Fargo to attend Interstate Business College. Marcella married Joseph Rolph Amundson on June 9, 1940, in Fargo. She worked for deLendrecies in the office until the children were born. Marcella was then a full time homemaker. The family moved to Crookston, Minnesota, for a short time and then returned to Fargo. She went back to work after the children were grown and worked for Quality Bakery for 20 years. Marcella and Joseph were long term members of First Lutheran Church in Fargo. She loved playing piano and organ. She is survived by her daughters, Judy Karna, Valencia, CA; and Mary Amundson, Burnsville, MN; her sons, Joe (Karen) Amundson, West Fargo, ND; and John (Pat) Amundson, Brooklyn Center, MN; two sisters, Theolin Benzie, Mankato, MN and Frances Gallagher, Hawley, MN; nine grandchildren, Kristine, Karalyn, Lisa, Liv, Shane, Angela, Joshua, Schanna and Tawna; 22 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and her brother, Edward. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley. Funeral Service: Monday, August 15, 2011, at 11:00 AM at First Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church. Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND.
