Lowell Edward Tehven, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in -law, uncle, and awesome friend, passed away Saturday morning, February 4th at Sanford Hospital.
Born in Moorhead, MN, July 5, 1939 to parents Wendell and Gina (Peterson) Tehven, he lived in Georgetown, MN, Ada, MN, and graduated high school from Arthur, ND. His senior class won the 1957 ND State Class C Basketball Championship. He worked at Scheels as golf manager for many years, and some of his favorite activities were playing golf and pinochle, and in past years, was an excellent woodworker. Lowell was also active in Fargo Golden Kiwanis, volunteering at NDSU Bison basketball games, BSF Men’s Fellowship, and served as President of the Red River Valley Senior Golf Tour.
Lowell was a deeply spiritual man who struggled with alcoholism and mental illness and was active in the recovery community. Because of his deep commitment to God, AA and his wide circle of friends within AA and beyond, he learned to live with both.
Lowell married Darlene Huff on March 18, 1967. They had 2 children, Darren and Larisa; they lived in Fargo for many years. On October 29, 1994 he married Ilene Fosmark.
He is survived by his wife, Ilene; son, Darren (Shelly); daughters, Larisa Tehven, Kriston (Steve) Wenzel, and Laura Fosmark; grandchildren, Nick and Sydney Swanson, Matt and Ben Wenzel, Tyler Fosmark, Amber Hewter, and John, Jeremy, Ashlyn, Kaili, and Annie Grace Fosmark; brothers, Donald (Mary) Tehven, St. Paul, MN, Jon (Gloria) Tehven, Waverly, Iowa; sisters, Beverly Hest, Minneapolis, MN, Marjeanne Tehven, Duluth, MN; sisters-in-law, Hermoine Tehven, Fargo, ND and Jane Tehven, Enid, OK and brother-in-law, Jim Iwen, Hannaford, ND.
Lowell was preceded in death by his parents; son, Chad Fosmark; siblings, Donna, Rolfe (Bud), and Marvin Tehven, and Patricia Iwen, and brother-in-law, John Hest.
