Loren Amundson, 74, of Fargo, ND passed away Monday, December 22, 2025, at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND surrounded by family.
Loren was born on June 26, 1951, in Northwood, ND to Kenneth and Lenora Amundson of Hatton, ND. He graduated from Hatton High School. Throughout his grade school and high school years, he loved playing sports. He played football, basketball, and both high school and American Legion baseball. He graduated from North Dakota State School of Science (NDSCS) in 1971. Loren was a member of the ND and SD Army National Guard from 1970 thru 1976.
On September 18, 1971, Loren married Paulette Pladson of Hatton. For 54 years they lived, worked and traveled together. When first married, they lived in Wahpeton, ND and Watertown, SD; returning to Fargo in 1987. Throughout his life Loren worked at NDSCS, as a hospital purchasing agent, and in various sales positions.
Loren’s life centered around his children and grandchildren. He coached his two sons and many other “Northside Boys” in baseball. He was an avid supporting fan of both his sons and all 5 grandchildren, cheering them on in gymnastics, volleyball, golf, hockey, football, baseball and soccer. Loren never missed an opportunity to cheer from the sideline. His love for sports was never about just winning; it was about connection, tradition, and time well spent with those he loved. And anyone who knew him knew he was a dedicated NDSU Bison, NY Yankee and Green Bay Packer fan!
He also enjoyed traveling with his wife, family, and friends. He especially enjoyed recent train trips through parts of Canada and the southwest United States with his wife, Paulette.
Loren is survived by his wife, Paulette, and two sons Michael (Melissa) and granddaughters, Madeline and Makayla; and Matthew (Lindsay) and grandsons Jack, Conner and Liam. He is also survived by two brothers, Kendall (Linda) and Lynn; and brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Pam and Jeff Brandon and Pat Pladson, as well as 9 nephews and nieces.
