Lonny Joe Beach was born August 12, 1952 to Robert (Bob) and Darlene (Sis) (Hendricksen) Beach in Fergus Falls, MN. Pre-school years were spent on the family farm near Ashby, MN.
He moved to Fargo with his parents and brother, Rick, attending elementary school. When Lonny was 10 years old, he had the honor of being the North Dakota Easter Seal Boy. When he was 11 years old, he was the mascot for NDSU. Lonny graduated from Fargo South High School in 1970. He earned an Associate Degree in Architectural Drafting and Estimating at North Dakota State School of Science, Wahpeton, in 1972. Lonny also earned an Associate Degree in Business from Interstate Business College in 1974.
Lonny lived independently and worked at Northwestern Bell for 23 years as a phone operator and also did some sales. During his employment, he traveled as a Union Steward to Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles. He made many friends there and also at his church, Fargo Baptist.
After he retired he continued making friends as he was a regular at West Acres every Friday. He always remembered friends and family with a card or gift, knowing just what was needed to lift someone’s spirits.
Lonny liked to spend time at his family’s cabin on Lake Tamarac. He also enjoyed attending the Fargo Air Show with his dad, Bob, every year.
Lonny lost his independence and lived the last years at the Villa Maria Care Center.
Lonny had many good friends and anyone who ever met him, never forgot him. He would greet everyone with a wonderful smile and a gracious, “Hello”. He will be missed by many. As difficult as life was at times, Lonny never forgot who his Lord and Savior is. He went to be with Him on 12-25-14. He is now in heaven with no wheel chair to limit him. “He is fine!”
He was preceded in death by his mother, Darlene; brother, Rick; infant sister, Bonnie Lynn.
He is survived by his dad, Bob, of Fargo; Aunt Mary Jane (Duane) Mavis, Fergus Falls, MN; and many cousins and friends.
