Lois Larson, 85, of Fargo, ND, passed away to be with our Heavenly Father on Monday, March 13, 2023 at her home under the loving care of family and Ethos Hospice.

Lois Darlene Thompson was born on January 2, 1938 in Grafton, ND to Clarence and Gladys (Larson) Thompson. She grew up on the family farm outside of Grafton and graduated from Grafton High School in 1956. Lois graduated from the University of North Dakota with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Home Economics.

While at UND, Lois met "Herb" Herbert Leeland Larson. They were married on August 6, 1961 at Zion Lutheran country church outside of Grafton, ND. Lois taught elementary in Ypsilanti, ND for two years, before starting their family.

Lois, Herb, and their first daughter Paula, moved from Jamestown, ND to Grand Forks, ND where their second daughter, Tara Lynn was born. Their final move was to Fargo, ND in 1964.

Lois was an amazing wife and mother. She was an integral part of Herb's successes and they were a wonderful support for one another. She was a devoted mother to their daughters and gave her all to ensure they were raised in a loving and Christ-centered home. Lois was a wonderful cook, every night she had a home cooked meal for their family where they sat at the dinner table and enjoyed each other's company. The meal always began with grace. Holidays were always special times, celebrating Christmas', Thanksgivings, Easters and birthdays with elegance and warmth. Entertaining was a joyful time for her where she could share her hospitality with family and friends.

Lois was involved in Circle at Olivet Lutheran Church. At Olivet, Lois and Herb developed life-long friendships.

Lois enjoyed life to the fullest and was thankful for everything. She was happiest being with family. She loved God, her family, and friends. During summers, their family would take month-long camping trips out West. They enjoyed fishing, hiking, campfires and park ranger nature talks. They also experienced the splendor of Germany and Austria with their daughters which created a love for travel.

Lois and Herb got to enjoy many Lutheran Brotherhood convention trips around the world. They enjoyed their visits with their daughter Paula in Arizona throughout the years. Lois continued her trips; her last trip was in December 2022.

Later in life, joy was added to Lois' life with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed playing, baking cookies, and trips to Minneapolis with them. One of her last outings was helping to pick out a puppy for her great-grandchildren.

Lois is survived by her daughters, Paula Larson, Marana, AZ, and Tara Lynn Harris, Fargo, ND; and two granddaughters, Danielle (Ethan) Kraft and Taylor Merrill (fiancé Greg Douvier); great-grandchildren, Liam and Isabel Kraft.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herb; her parents; and brother, Gordie (Janie) Thompson.
