Leanne Olslund, 70, of Ottertail, MN, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Perham Living in Perham, MN.
Leanne Stenerson was born on May 29, 1956, in Grafton, ND, to Lon and Arlene Stenerson. She graduated from St. Thomas High School in 1974 and from North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS) in 1975.
Leanne married Keith Gilleshammer in 1978, and together they welcomed their son, Jace. The couple later divorced in 1990. On June 17, 1995, Leanne married Steve Olslund at First Lutheran Church in Fargo.
Leanne spent 25 years working at Bell Bank, beginning in 1988 and retiring in 2013. As a personal banking officer at the Northport branch, she loved working for the Solberg family and building relationships with her customers and coworkers. She always considered Bell Bank a wonderful place to work, and retirement brought the bittersweet realization of just how much she missed the people who had become such an important part of her life.
Leanne loved to have fun, and a good party was always welcome. Her famous saying was, "It will be fun. FUN!" She enjoyed camping and riding her bike on Minnesota's trails, and she and Steve spent many weekends camping at Maplewood State Park. After retiring from banking, Leanne also spent two seasons working in greenhouses, helping propagate and plant seedlings for the spring flower sales.
Retirement gave Leanne time to enjoy many of her favorite hobbies. She loved knitting, often making afghans and scarves, tending to her flowers, and creating handmade Christmas cards. Each season, she would hand-stamp around 50 cards to share with family and friends. She was also a devoted and supportive mother who took great pride in her family.
In the spring of 2013, Leanne and Steve began building their retirement home near Ottertail Lake. With Leanne's eye for decorating, the home became a beautiful and distinctive reflection of her personal style.
Leanne is survived by her husband, Steve; son, Jace (Jen) Gilleshammer of Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Quinn and Piper; brother, Monte Stenerson; brother-in-law; and several nieces.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer's Association or a charity of your choice.
Memorial Service: 11am, Friday, November 6, 2026 at First Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND with visitation one hour prior.
