Lavonne Marie Maring died Saturday, December 11, 2010, in Scottsdale, AZ, after a lengthy illness. She was born April 13, 1942, to Arnold and Hazel (Quam) Anderson in Fargo, North Dakota. LaVonne was raised in Hendrum, Minnesota, and graduated from Hendrum High School. She graduated from North Dakota State University in 1964, with a degree in Home Economics Education. LaVonne was united in marriage to Russell D. Maring at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hendrum, Minnesota, December 7, 1963. They lived in Minneapolis, Minnesota, for a short time before moving to Climax, Minnesota, where LaVonne taught Home Economics for three years while Russell attended UND School of Law. The couple moved to Fargo where she taught for several years at Ben Franklin Junior High. She also substituted at various Fargo schools in later years. She was a member of Junior League of Fargo-Moorhead and active with the North Dakota State University Development Foundation, including co-chairing Bison Bidder’s Bowls with Russ. LaVonne was a loving wife and mother, daughter, sister and friend. She was a gourmet cook and enjoyed entertaining family and friends. She leaves as survivors her husband of 47 years, Russell Maring; her children, Barry (Elizabeth) Maring, Fargo, ND; Michael Maring, Detroit Lakes, MN; James (Suzanne) Maring, Fargo, ND; her grandchildren, Jackson and Brooke; her mother, Hazel Anderson, Fargo; and her brother, Juel Anderson, El Paso, TX. LaVonne was preceded in death by her father, Arnold Anderson and sister, Carol Strande. Memorials may be directed to NDSU Development Foundation.
