Karen Christine Wieland (Sigmund), 65, of Fargo, ND, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2026, holding the hands of her two boys, Justin and Jaden Wieland.

Karen was born May 27, 1961, on the US Air Force Base in Landstuhl, Germany, to William and Irma Sigmund. Her early years included several moves and new schools before settling in Fargo during the first grade. She lived near Lewis & Clark Elementary and loved walking to and from school with her childhood friends. She graduated from Fargo South and then MSUM with a bachelor's degree in marketing. She was a hard worker and proud of it, buying her own first car and paying her own way through school.

Karen loved being a mother to her two boys more than anything else in this world. She stayed home to raise them, took them to all their sports and activities, and spent countless hours with them swimming at the pool. She saved everything from their childhood: art, toys, clothes and schoolwork back to preschool. She loved scary movies, baking desserts, and buying presents for her grandchildren.  She had a lifelong passion for animals: horses, dogs, cats, birds, fish - almost anything except bugs. She opened her home to foster animals and volunteered at an animal rescue & rehab clinic throughout her life.

Karen was never afraid to speak the truth. She loved deeply, was fiercely loyal, and had a strong sense of right and wrong. She always believed in God and the end of her life testified to her faith in Jesus.

Karen is survived by her two sons Justin (36) and Jaden (33), their wives Andrea (35) and Shantel (32), and her six grandchildren: Jackson (5), Alaina (3), Charlotte (3), Thomas (2), Madison (1), and Marianne (10 mos)

Karen's memorial service will be 11:00 am, Thursday, October 1 at Hope Lutheran Church-South Campus. Visitattion will be held one hour prior to the service.
