Karen Elizabeth Amundson, Age 67, of Fargo, ND, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on August 4th, 2026.

Karen was born to Richard and Rosie Granat on January 19th, 1959 in Beach, ND. It was there she attended Golva schools and created lifelong memories with beloved lifelong friends, including Mary and Charlene. After high school, she moved to Bismarck where she met the love of her life, Mike Amundson.

She worked for the phone company for 30 years, where she met the final addition to her core group of girls, Joie. After the phone company she transitioned to her next position as a head cook for Harwood Elementary, where she spread her zest for life with all of the young children that came through her line. Many students came back to share their love and appreciation years later for "Miss Karen's" impact on them.

In their 35 years, Karen and Mike shared together countless summers at their "happy place" on Devil's Lake. Nothing quite brought her as much joy as her family. She chased Adam around for years playing hockey and Seth playing baseball. She was incredibly proud of her boys in everything they did into adulthood in their careers and with their families. Karen loved her daughters-in-law like they were her own. But nothing made her beam quite like her four grandchildren, being called Nana brought her more pride than anything else. No matter what the grandkids were up to whether it was hockey, dance, concerts, or just snuggling on the couch she was all for it. Those who knew her well knew what it meant to be loved by her. Her hugs were unmatched and will be missed by many.

She is survived by her loving husband, Mike Amundson; her sons and daughters, Adam (Gretchen) Amundson, Seth (Kendra) Amundson; her father-in-law, Dale Amundson; her sister-in-law, Sue (Mitch) Leupp; and her grandchildren, Weston (9), Ellie (6), Henry (4), Beckett (2). Waiting in heaven with open arms for her are her parents, Richard and Rosie; her sister, Cil; and her mother-in-law, Monie.

Visitation will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on August 21st, 2026 at 10am with a Funeral Service to follow at 11am.
