Justine Elizabeth (Bowman) Swanson, 101, of Fargo, peacefully passed away on June 22, 2026 at Sheyenne Crossings.

Justine was born on September 29, 1924 in Fargo, ND, to Carl and Hildur Bowman. She grew up on a farm west of Fargo, graduated from Oak Grove High School and Lutheran Bible Institute. She married Paul Swanson in October of 1962 and they raised two children. She worked as a switchboard operator at Northwestern Bell for many years. She also assisted her husband with his insurance agency.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling, needlework, and being involved in Swedish activities. She was an active member of First Lutheran Church, the Embroiderer’s Guild and the Nordic Culture Club. She loved the annual Scandinavian Festival and volunteered there for decades.

Justine is survived by her children, Mary and David (Julie); her brother, Charles (Alice) Bowman; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, and her parents.

The funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Hanson Runsvold with visitation one hour prior.
