Joyce M. Monson, 88, Fargo, North Dakota, was called to her heavenly home on November 2, 2020.
Joyce Marie Hanson, daughter of Herman and Clara (Enemark) Hanson, was born February 27, 1932, in Clearwater County near Dalton, Minnesota. She grew up and went to school in that area, graduating from Fergus Falls High School. She then went to work in the office at Empire Supply Company, Fargo, North Dakota, where she met Dallas Monson. They were married on June 12, 1954, at Dalton and made their home in Fargo.
Joyce was deeply devoted to her family and had a strong faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She and Dallas were members of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fargo for over 50 years, where Joyce served with the Lois Circle. She loved sewing and was a faithful participant in the Bethlehem Quilters, serving as their co-leader for a number of years. Joyce also enjoyed reading and traveling with Dallas to destinations including Washington, D.C., Hawaii, California and Florida. She exemplified gentleness and kindness and had a genuine love of God and His word, leaving a legacy of a faith-filled life of service and praying for others.
She is survived by daughter, Julie (Roger) Hill, Rockledge, Florida; son, Bradley (Kristi) Monson, Fargo, North Dakota; grandchildren, Garrett, Aaron and Emma Monson, all of Fargo, North Dakota; sister, Darlene Wilwant, Venice, Florida; brother, Herman Hanson, Jr. (“Pete”), Minneapolis, Minnesota; sisters-in-law, Deloris Hanson, Moorhead, Minnesota, Deloris Stauning, Fertile, Minnesota, and Bonnie (Dennis) Munson, Yuma, Arizona.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas; parents, Herman and Clara Hanson; sisters, Eleanora McGregor, Claire Henricksen and Dorothy Schwartz; brothers, Homer, Clayton and Reuben Hanson; niece Susan Smith; and nephews Steven McGregor, Mark Hanson and Terry Monson.
The family would like to thank Hospice of the Red River Valley for their care of Joyce.
Services will be on Monday, November 9, 2020, with visitation 9-10:00 a.m. and funeral at 10 a.m., at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 613 – 16th Street South, Fargo, ND. Burial following at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Fargo. Masks required.
